Pelvic health

Bladder leakage is medical. So is the fix.

Emsella strengthens the pelvic floor while you sit, fully clothed, for 28 minutes. No undressing, no downtime, and a physician who treats leakage as the health concern it is.

What Emsella does

The Emsella chair sends electromagnetic stimulation into the pelvic floor — the muscles that hold urine in. During a session those muscles contract again and again, building strength that is hard to reach with exercises alone. You sit, you can read or scroll, and you leave as you came in.

Who it helps

  • Stress incontinence — leaking when you cough, laugh, lift or exercise
  • Urge incontinence — the sudden need to go, and not always making it
  • Pelvic-floor weakness after childbirth
  • Pelvic-floor weakness after menopause
  • Men with bladder leakage

A course of treatment

Six 28-minute sessions is the usual series, once or twice a week. Touch-up sessions every three to six months help keep the result. Book an “Emsella Visit” online, or call and the front desk will set up the series.

What to do at home, too

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases names bladder training — going on a schedule and slowly stretching the time between trips — and pelvic floor muscle exercises as first steps, and reports that women who did pelvic floor training had fewer leaks (NIDDK). Our guide to what helps bladder leakage explains how Emsella fits alongside them.

Insurance

Some plans may cover Emsella for incontinence. Call (618) 719-2011 before your first session and the office will help you find out.

Core to Floor

Patients who also want core strength pair Emsella with EMSCULPT NEO, so the abdominal wall and the pelvic floor are trained together.

Questions

Emsella questions

Do I have to undress for Emsella?

No. You sit on the Emsella chair fully clothed for the whole 28-minute session, and you can go straight back to your day afterward.

Can men use Emsella?

Yes. Emsella is used for women and men with bladder leakage, and for pelvic-floor weakness after childbirth or menopause in women. Dr. Wood checks whether it fits your kind of leakage first.

Does insurance cover Emsella?

Some insurance plans may cover it for incontinence. Call the office before your first session and the staff will help you find out what your plan pays.
