Dermal fillers for lips, cheeks and lines

Hyaluronic-acid fillers from Juvéderm and Revanesse, placed by Dr. Kelly Wood, to restore volume and soften the folds around the mouth.

The fillers used here

Total Body Renewal uses Juvéderm products and Revanesse Lips and Versa. All are hyaluronic-acid fillers — a gel built on a sugar the skin already makes, which the body breaks down gradually. Dr. Wood chooses the product by the area: a softer gel for lips, a firmer one where structure is the goal.

Where filler goes

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • The smile lines from nose to mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • The marionette lines below the corners of the mouth

The FDA approves absorbable fillers for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds, and for adding volume to the lips and cheeks (FDA).

The appointment

Anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on how many areas are treated. A single area such as the lips sits at the short end.

How long it lasts

Up to six to twelve months in the lips and up to about two years in the cheeks. Areas that move more break filler down sooner, which is why lips need touching up more often than cheeks.

Filler or Botox?

Filler replaces volume; neurotoxin relaxes the muscles behind expression lines. Read Botox or filler: which one before your visit if you are unsure.
