Men’s health and testosterone care

Low energy, lost muscle, a lower sex drive — Dr. Wood checks the labs before anything is prescribed, and keeps checking once it is.

When testosterone is the problem — and when it is not

The American Urological Association lists reduced energy, fatigue, lost lean muscle, a lower sex drive, weaker erections, poor concentration and irritability among the symptoms of low testosterone. It treats a total testosterone below 300 ng/dL, confirmed on two early-morning tests, as a reasonable cut-off for the diagnosis (AUA guideline). Every one of those symptoms has other causes too, which is why the visit starts with a panel, not a prescription. More in our guide to low testosterone.

Treatment options

  • Testosterone cream
  • Testosterone pellets
  • Testosterone injections
  • HCG and other medicines that support the body’s own production

Treatment starts only when it is clinically indicated, and labs are repeated every 8 to 12 weeks while the dose is set.

Erectile dysfunction and sexual health

Prescription medication such as sildenafil or tadalafil is part of the care here, and Dr. Wood also discusses PRP therapy for sexual wellness. Weight and hormones often sit underneath, so the same visit can look at medical weight management too.

Bladder leakage

Emsella is used for men as well as women — a 28-minute session in a chair, fully clothed.

Questions

Men’s health questions

What forms of testosterone replacement do you offer?

Cream, pellets and injections. HCG and other medicines that support your own testosterone are options too. Dr. Wood recommends a form after your labs and a conversation about what fits your routine.

Is the men’s health consultation free?

Yes. Every men’s health service starts with a complimentary consultation with Dr. Wood. You can book it discreetly through the online calendar.

How often are labs checked on testosterone therapy?

Every 8 to 12 weeks while the dose is being set. Treatment is only started when labs and symptoms show it is clinically indicated, and the rechecks are how the dose stays where it should be.

Do you treat erectile dysfunction?

Yes. Treatment can include prescription medication such as sildenafil or tadalafil, and Dr. Wood also discusses PRP therapy for sexual wellness. The first step is the same consultation and, when needed, labs.
